Are 6 point harnesses street legal? – AnswersToAll

Why are 4 point harnesses dangerous? In a reasonably upright seat, the purpose is more to hold the lap belt low across the pelvis. With a standard 4 point harness, in a frontal crash, your upper torso goes forward, stretching the shoulder belts. Rather than stretch, they pull the lap belt up into the gut area. That causes the major damage.
