The T-56 is a very strong transmission and can be built to handle enormous horsepower. The cylinder mounted on the side of the shifter box is the reverse lockout solenoid. Ford used the T-6060 behind the Shelby GT500 supercharged engines. The 6060 used T-56 technology with improved internals.
The first 5-speed to be installed in a Mustang was the Tremec T-45. The T-45 was not very durable and suffered from several recalls for gears and fork issues. The Tremec T-3650 replaced the T-45 in 2001 and was a good transmission behind the 2005–2009 3V GT engine and the earlier non-supercharged 2V and 4V Mustangs.
Automatic Transmission Details. The Magnum engine uses the standard small block bellhousing bolt pattern, allowing for the use of 904, 727, etc. If you already have a small block V8 transmission, the engine will bolt up, but there are some important details to address first.
If you already have a small block V8 transmission, the engine will bolt up, but there are some important details to address first. The 5.9 Magnum engine is externally balanced and is different than all other Chrysler small blocks. The 5.2 Magnum is internally balanced and similar to the LA 318 in this respect.
5.2 Magnum Reliability The 5.2 Magnum used in Dodge trucks and Jeeps is a pretty solid engine. It doesn't suffer cylinder head cracks to the same extent that the 5.9 Magnum does. Additionally, the internals and major engine components seem to be fairly strong and adequate for good longevity at stock power levels.
The 727 transmission will bolt up to your motor no problem, like Elwenil said notch for the crank sensor, use the magnum flexplate, and one hole in the flexplate will be off slightly, I had to elongate it with a dremel.
The 318 has 4 bolt holes for mounts on the block on each side, and uses 2 on the rear and only one on the front. While the 360 is the opposite. It has 3 holes, with 2 on the front on 1 on the rear. So using the 318 mounts as they were on the 360, only 2 holes line up.
The 5.2 Magnum can last to 300,000 miles and onwards, but expect to end up replacing a number of parts before you hit this mileage. You will certainly need a transmission rebuild.
A 904 Race TorqueFlite to back up a powerful late-model Hemi. ... The aluminum 904 was first introduced by the Chrysler Corporation in 1960, and is a design that evolved from the Chrysler PowerFlite, which was a two speed automatic, and then the cast-iron three-speed TorqueFlite which was durable but heavy.
Transmission identification numbers are stamped on the driver side of the case flange just above the oil pan gasket (just below the TV lever). There will be a 9 digit part number, a space, a 4 digit build date, a space, and a 4 digit serial number. 6 = strength of trans.
Case is a liitle different, 47 uses a larger torque converter, 46 OD clutch as 4 discs 47 has 5, 46 direct clutch uses 8 discs, 47 has 10 disc, 46 has 3 discs in the front clutch, the 47 uses 4. There are other differences too, but they are teh big ones. Id look for a 00 to 02 47.

The two automatic transmissions available on the 1st Gen Cummins are the A727 Torqueflite 3-Speed Automatic and the 4-speed A518, or 46RH, automatic transmission with overdrive. The 46RH is more desirable between the two automatic transmissions as it will allow for much better fuel economy.

CUSTOM AUTOMATIC CONVERSIONS, (CAC) NOW OFFERS COMPLETE KITS SO THAT AN ALLISON 5 OR 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAN BE INSTALLED BEHIND THE CUMMINS 12 VALVE, 24 VALVE, 5.9L AND 6.7L ENGINE.
They both use the same front half up to the bell housing, but the rear is different. The 46RH is longer overall and non computer controlled for shifting. The 46RE is the short one and is computer controlled shift points.
It will fit no problem. The 318 is an internally balanced engine verses the 360 being an external balanced engine. Both engines will have a 727 Torque Flight transmission.
The Allison 1000 is the best option that is now possible behind the Cummins engine! ... The new ATS castings allow the Allison to transmission to bolt directly up to the Cummins engine with out any engine modifications.
There is a casting number on the side of the block behind the starter that will look something like this XXXXXXXX-318-XX. The displacement is the 3 numbers between the 2 dashes, i.e. 273, 318, 340, 360. Chances are you have a 318 since they were far from gutless, even in the '70s. Hope this helps.
Any '96 or newer 5.2 or 5.9 transmission will work. The 5.9 flexplate has balance weight on it. The 5.2 is internally balanced and has no weight on the plate. You can use a 5.9 flexplate on a 5.2, just remove the weight.
Will a 5.7 Hemi bolt up to a 727 transmission? Re: 727 adaptor for a 5.7 hemi So any Small Block Chrysler transmission, be it a 727, 904, 998/9, 500, 518, etc will bolt right up. Be sure you have the proper flexplate and converter for the application of course.

The 5.0L V8 received a 3.35 first gear set with a .68od while the 2.3L received a 3.97:1 first gear with a .79:1 OD. The main reason for the 3.35:1 first gear in the 5.0L was to give the 5.0L some punch with 2.73:1 or optional 3.08:1 rear axle gears.

The 46re transmission 2x4 out of a Ram 1500 will fit in the 2x4 Dakota! Any 46re transmissions from 1996 to 2002 are the same. The converter is different from a 5.2L to a 5.9L but that is it. So, if they are both 2x4 they will work and if they are both 4x4 they will work. I hope this helps you, let me know! thanks, Richard
the 3.7 has the same mounting face as the 318/360... which is the same as the 5.7, 6.1 and 6.4 mounting depth is a little different than the la/magnum flex plate, P5153753 is what is needed to bolt up a 3.7/5.2/5.9 TQ to a hemi you do not say what trans you are using the bell housing on?? I am guessing this is going together on a bad ass truggy
The bolt pattern on a 2.5 Duke is the same as the FWD bolt pattern. If you had a 4.3 V6, the bell bolt pattern would be the same as a small block. The reason that GM went to the smaller bolt pattern was to save weight and for smaller space. Boo. …

Lowrida240 said: I'm wanting to put a 5.9 dodge ram motor out of an 02 dodge ram into a 04 dodge ram. Will the 5.7 transmission bolt up to the 5.9 motor. Click to expand... No, nor are you gonna be able to run the 360 on the hemi's computer and harness with fly-by-wire lol.
The 5.2 BCM will work with the 5.9 ECM, however if you install the 5.9 BCM, it will adjust the odometer to the 5.9 figure. As noted above, the motor mounts are not the same. The good news is that all the 5.9 stuff bolts right in, no drilling etc required.
The 5.9 Magnum engine is externally balanced and is different than all other Chrysler small blocks. The 5.2 Magnum is internally balanced and similar to the LA 318 in this respect. 5.2 users can ignore much of what is stated below.
The 5.2 and 3.9 are internally balanced and require no external counterweight like the 5.9. The flywheel is the same size between 3.9 and 5.2 except I suspect the tone ring (which triggers the crank sensor for the factory ignition) may differ between 6 and 8 cylinders. I think, though I am not 100% sure, that the 3.9 transmission is lighter ...

1998. Engine. 5.2. I own a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd Laramie and a 1999 Dodge Ram van 3500 2wd. I was wondering if the transmission in the van is the same as the truck and I could swap them out. The transmission went out on the van and the frame of the van is badly rusted through on the front end.
One of the advantages to using an aftermarket transmission is the multiple mounting locations for the shifter, allowing the transmission to be adapted to the chassis. The Tremec 3550 and TKO 5-speeds are still an excellent choice for a transmission swap due to their compact size and ability to handle large power numbers.
Yes it should as long as the electrics plug in they should be the same transmission the 5.2 and 5.9 are physically identical outside and both balanced internally so go for it

You will have to buy another tc from a 5.2 setup as the engines are balanced differently. The 5.2 is internally balanced whereas the 5.9 is externally balanced. Better to get the trans from a 5.2 rig.
Used Magnum engines are readily available, once you know where to look. 5.9 Magnum engines were production engines in Dodge and Jeep trucks, vans, and and SUVs from 1993–2003. The 5.2 Magnum was available in 1992. The 5.2 is more common but less desirable for our purposes due to its smaller displacement.

Answer: Yes, given the proper bellhousing adaptor. However, that being said, I wouldn't recommend it. As mentioned, you'd need an adaptor plate. Why you ask? Because FCA uses the 45RFE and 545RFE transmissions behind the 4.7L The 5.9L uses the 46RFE which is heavier duty to allow for the higher...

The 2.2/2.5 K engine and the 2.0/2.4 'Neon' engine share an almost identical bolt pattern. The biggest difference I'm aware of is the starter motor location being on the front for a 2.4 vs on the back for the 2.2. and 1 bolt hole on the transmission side being off. but it allows a newer 2.4 to be bolted up with an older 2.2/2.5 transmission.

The 5.9 has a little brother, the 5.2 Magnum which is also a naturally-aspirated V8 and was used as the base engine option for Dodge’s and Jeep Grand Cherokees during the same time frame. The Magnum is built off of the Chrysler LA engine family, a group of pushrod overhead valve, 90 degree small block gasoline engines.
* Magnum 4.7/5.2/5.9 liter LA-series V8 * Viper 8.0/8.3 liter LA-series V10 (This engine has similar bolt patterns to the LA/Small Block except that the top holes on the Aluminum V10 will not align with any other LA/Small Block transmission.)
To determine your torque converter bolt pattern, measure from the crank centerline to the centerline of one converter bolt hole and multiply by 2. So, if the distance is 5.75 inches x 2 = 11.5 inches. A 11.50-inch flexplate can be modified to work with the 281mm (11.07 inches) converter pattern by slightly elongating the holes inboard.
