I agree the 5.4 would be sweet, and ud be hellza proud to say you have a 5.4 However, your 4.6 is capable to pack the power of boost, where as you'd have to build up the 5.4's internals causing an overflow of cash that your going to hope youd have If you have the money you can do it, but id say stick with ur motor if your a lil slim on the dinero
As long are both SOHC 2V's or 3V's then yes you can change. The only real difference with the 5.4 vs. 4.6 is the deck height. Other then that they are the same engine, both from the modular family. There other difference is the intake, but since it's for a truck that's not an issue.
The 4.6 or 5.4 pi heads are exactly the same. Someone correct me if im wrong. Just slap on some PI heads and then you can bolt on the rest of the lightning intake manifold.

The 5.4 Block and 4.6 Block are different. The 5.4 is wider and that is why it requires a different intake, so no a 5.4 intake will not bolt on to a 4.6. That said a 4.6 intake can bolt on to a 5.4 with adapter plates. The heads are the exact same thing though, the exact same thing. Edit: The 5.4 uses the exact same pistons as the 4.6.

Yes the heads fit exactly the same. But if you have a 4.6 with any sort of PD blower then you can forget trying to use it with the 5.4 because of the width. You just have to fab an intake manifold to fit, so if you are turbo or centri then you will be alright
